Common questions
Is it really free during beta?
Yes — including the AI agent. You get the full product while we're building it. When we exit beta, the Core tier stays free forever. The AI agent moves to $15/room/mo. We'll give you plenty of notice before anything changes.
What counts as "per room"?
Each grow space you configure — a tent, a room, a closet — counts as one room. Core is free for unlimited rooms. The AI agent is billed per room that has AI enabled. You can mix: some rooms on Core, some on Pilot AI.
Do I need to pay for TentPilot Scout?
No — Scout is free, open source software you install on any Mac, Windows, or Linux machine. The TentPilot Hub (a pre-configured Pi) will be a one-time hardware purchase when it ships. No subscription for the gateway software itself.
Does TentPilot work without Scout?
Yes, for cloud-connected devices. Govee, Tuya/Inkbird, and Rachio all work cloud-to-cloud without Scout. Kasa smart plugs require Scout (or the Hub) because they're LAN-only — no cloud path.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Monthly billing, cancel any time, rooms revert to Core immediately. Your data, history, and configuration stay — nothing is deleted.
Is there a limit on sensors or readings?
No hard limits during beta. We're building for serious multi-room grows — Govee sensors polling every 30s, multiple rooms, full history. If you're doing something unusual at scale, reach out and we'll figure it out together.
